Meet The Wall Muse

  • Shelley - Principal and Founder

In her capacity as founder, Shelley has excelled in facilitating transparent transactions for high-value artworks, serving as a pivotal bridge between buyers and artists.

Her expertise shines in guiding collectors to build collections that authentically mirror their individual preferences. She also mentors and manages artists to help them keep more money in their business. From meticulous logistics to framing, Shelley oversees every detail, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for her clients.

Before establishing The Wall Muse, Shelley spent decades working in museums, galleries, and universities, beginning her career as a museum registrar for institutions like The Palm Springs Art Museum and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. As the first Collections Manager at the Miller House and Garden, Shelley was invited to speak on behalf of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at the Carnegie Museum of Art in honor of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater’s 75th anniversary.

As Regional Director for the Midwest for a secondary market gallery, Shelley regularly made millions of dollars of profit in art sales as well as negotiating complex contracts, consignment agreements, and insurance documents. Shelley's comprehensive expertise in the business side of the art world informs how she approaches every relationship with the collectors and artists she works with.

Beyond her professional roles, Shelley is a dedicated contributor to various boards, including About Face Theatre, Art Institute of Chicago (Evening Associates), and the Field Museum (Field Associate). Shelley was also elected to the Programming Committee of the Sustaining Fellows, the top donor group at the Art Institute of Chicago. As an active Board Member of the African / African-American Historical Society and member of the Fundraisint Committee of the Association of Registrars and Collection Specialists, Shelley is a driving force in converging art, culture, and meticulous management.

    What Drives Me:

I started The Wall Muse, because I was sick of watching large galleries, auction houses and dealers screw over the artists and collectors that they serve.

I believe that art is for everyone, and everyone should have equal access to guidance and advisory services, no matter what their budget.

As a collector, I am also passionate about serving artists, and providing financial, registrarial, and educational services to support career growth.
